    1. [CLANBOYD] Boyd family of St Marin in the Filds and Holborn, London
    2. Mike Boyd
    3. Good morning all In the last week, I was sent this Boyd family by Terry Boyd of Wailiki, Perth, Western Australia, that is thought to have come from Scotland. It is another of those Church of England (Church of Ireland or Episcopal) group that seem to have come out of Scotland in the 1600’s, but we do not know where they came from or whom these people are. Or to what Boyd Cadet Branch they may belong to in Scotland. Late last year on another Net list, I was told that those people that supported King Charles I (and perhaps Charles II) in Scotland were Church of England – but I have no data to support this. The family looks like it was living in Holborn, London – between Soho and Covent Garden from about 1800 (?) In the 1700’s it would appear this family were living around St Martin in the Field, which I understand is near Trafalgar Square and is about a mile (?) south of Holborn. [dates are rough guess??] A1 James Boyd, b / /1668 (St Martin in the Fields), d / /17xx (town, etc), m 169x (church, etc), Mary Andrews, dau of ?????, b 1670 (town, etc), d / /17xx (town, etc) [Lived: , London ] B1 Thomas Boyd, b 31/8/1698 (St Martin, London), d 10/12/1726 (town, etc), bu , m / /171x (church, etc), Elizabeth Kilbourne, dau of ?????, b 1690 (town, etc), d / /17xx (town, etc), bu , and had issue:- [Lived: , London ] - Strange that Elizabeth is born 8 years before Thomas? C2 Charles Boyd, b / /1720 (town, etc), d / /17xx (town, etc), bu , m / /173x (church), Charlotte ????, dau of ??????, b / /1722 (town, etc), d / /17xx (town, etc), bu , and had issue:- [Lived: , London ] D1 Charles Boyd, b / /1740 (town, etc), d / /17xx (town, etc), bu , m ? [Lived: , Halifax, Nova Scotia after 17xx ] First Branch C1 James Boyd, b 6/9/1716 (town, etc), d 6/10/1771 (town, etc), bu , m / /174x (church, etc), Ann Jenkins, dau of ????? , b 16/8/1720 (town, etc), d /4/1808 (????, London), bu , and had issue:- [Lived: , London ] D1 James Boyd, b 17/1/1742 (town, etc), d /5/1826 (town, etc), bu , m / /176x (church, etc), Ann Chitty, dau of ?????, b /1/1742 ( , London), d /2/1838 (town, etc), bu , and had issue:- [Lived: , London ] E1 James Boyd, b 9/9/1764 (town, etc), d /12/1800 ( , London), bu , m / /179x (church, etc), Charlotte Carolina Lattemer, dau of ??????, b / /1775 (town, etc), d /11/1864 ( , London), bu , and had issue:- [Lived: , London ] F1 James John Boyd, b 20/9/1797 ( , London), d /5/1866 (town, London), bu Cem. Hornsey, London, m / /182x (church, etc), Jane Balinger, dau of ?????, b 2/7/1797 (Walthmstow, Essex), d /5/1866 ( , London), bu Cem. Hornsey, London, and had issue:- [Lived: , London ] G1 James Balinger Boyd, b 30/12/1827 (Holborn, London), Bapt 27/1/1828 (St Andrew, Holborn, London), d 21/11/1903 (Perth, WA), bu , Perth, m / /185x (church, etc), ?? [Lived: , Perth, WA ] Came to Perth, Australia in 1851? But with this tree span of seven generations – for this direct tree – could mean that quite a number of other Boyd families, may connect to it through both male or female children. With the first James Boyd, being born in 1668, this would put him a generation ahead of George Boyd (1691-1731) of Compass, PA and his elder brother John Boyd (b 1687), whom married in London in 1712, Mary Stewart, whom both came from Airth, Stirlingshire. But until we can find out where this James Boyd born in 1668 family came form in Scotland before then, it is hard to draw any connections. Terry has not yet told me what they were doing in London from 1668 to 1851. So, that data may also help to link this family to your London Boyd family. If you have any Boyd family in London over this period, please let the list known. These locations are between Trafalgar Square and St Pauls. Good hunting Mike Boyd Brisbane, Aust.
