HI- I have a Capt. Robert Boyd who is the first Boyd ancestor in the book. He was probably born in Irvine Scotland and after a short time in Ireland he moved to America. The book says, "The time in Ireland could not have been long, for if Robert's first child, John was born in Scotland in the late 1720's, then Robert had moved to Ireland after this. If he was in Pennsylvania (Cumberland Valley) by about 1737, his stay in Ireland was likely no more than 10 years, at the most....................Robert and his oldest son, John, joined the militia to fight the Indians." According to the book - the above Capt Robert Boyd was b abt 1705-9 m? and d abt 1761 in Cumberland PA. The above John Boyd was b between 1725 and 1730 m. Mary? and his will was signed in 1769.
