Well, I don't honestly know a whole lot more. My great grandfather's name was James I believe his father's name was Jackson, and he came from " Kentucky country" as is listed on a death certificate. Family lore has it that Jackson and his family came up to Illinois from Kentucky after the civil war ( although there is a story that Jackson died before he got to Illinois, and his widow and their children continued) Anyway, supposedly they came to Illinois and settled near Charleston ( Coles county) I don't know how many brothers sisters there were. Story has it that several brothers from another family came up looking for them. They found one of the Boyd's in a pool hall in Charleston and a shoot out took place. All concerned died of their wounds. My great grandfather was a farmer in Crawford county near the town of Oblong. That is all I have to go on, I have tried finding more out, but have not had any luck. One of his brothers was Frank who was killed as a young man. Another brother was Aaron. I don't know of any living Boyd's that can shed any more light on it. Jeff ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jane C.
