About the Civil War Records. I went to the local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints church library. You can find the address in the yellow pages of your phone book under the name of the church. They have the Civil War Pension Indexes on film, which you can view there at their library. They are in alphabetical order by the name of the pensioner. I found my John P. Boyd. There were several pages of John Boyds. They have the application forms that you send to the National Archives to receive a copy of the application. Unfortunately for me, they could not find the one for John P. Boyd. They said that when they moved from one building to another about 50 years ago several boxes of their records never did find their way to the new location. So, I was disappointed.
