    1. Re: [Boyd] Rev Adam Boyd
    2. Emalu, I couldn't let this one get by without at least trying. There was a family of Boyds in Abbeville, SC, in the late 1700s whose family names are very similar to those of Adam Boyd's. Everybody seems to be stuck on John Boyd, b. abt 1780, who marred Eleanor Unknown, and moved to Meriwether County, GA about 1827. They had children named: 1. Martha H. Boyd b. abt 1802 in SC, married William Campbell and moved to Alabama sometime after 1836 2. John B. Boyd, b. abt 1804, married 1st unknown, and 2nd Edna Williams in Meriwether County, GA. Administered his father's estate in Meriwether, while William Campbell administered it in Abbeville. John B. Boyd died in Carroll County. May have been connected to a Beasley family in SC. Annual returns in Meriwether mention his children (with first wife) receiving an inheritance from an Edmund Beasley. John charged their inheritance with expenses of three trips to Abbeville to settle the matter and said it took 27 days. 3. William Boyd, b. abt 1809, may have married Margaret and may have been in Gwinnett Co., GA (this is real iffy but his brother was definitely in Gwinnett) 4. Hugh Boyd, b. abt 1810, married unknown but had 4 children in the 1840 Abbeville census. Have not been able to find anything else on Hugh. 5. Alexander Boyd, b. abt 1811, married Sarah Ann Hinton and moved from Meriwether County to Randolph County, AL. Many people have this lineage worked out. 6. Hannah Boyd, b. abt 1813, married William Malone and appears to have remained in Abbeville. Her mother was living with her in 1850 or 1860. 7. Jean/Jane Boyd, b. abt 1815. Was deceased by 1845 when her brother Adam died. Jane also is said to have had an illegitimate child which was excluded from Adam's estate settlement. 8. Ebenezer Boyd, b. 7 Jun 1816, d. 4 Aug 1865 in Gwinnett Co., GA. Married Margaret Unknown. Well documented in Gwinnett County. 9. Robert Boyd, b. abt 1822-25, may have also been in Gwinnett County. May have been married to a Cecilia. Had daughter named Elenda (Eleanor?). 10. Adam Boyd, b. 1825-1830, d. 1845. Adam died while still a minor but left an estate and named his mother, brothers and sisters. Adam and Robert both show in the 1830 Meriwether census as children under 5 years of age. John Boyd's estate settlement in both Abbeville and Meriwether listed his legatees and named Adam and Robert as minors with guardians. Can anybody connect this family to the Adam Boyd posted by Emalu? This is not my family as far as I can tell, but since they were in Meriwether County in 1830 and owned property, I have several records pertaining to the family. The descendants connect much later to my family in Carroll County, but they seem to have not lived near my Boyds in Meriwether, and neither did they do business with them or marry into the same families. If this is a connection, it sure would open a lot of doors to the descendants of John and Eleanor. Thanks for any info, speculation, thoughts, etc. Judy K in Newnan, GA
