Before the revolutionary war, there was a group of Presbyterians from Chester County, and from the original church, who all went down into the Carolina's to establish "the church" there. It would seem strange if some of them were not Boyds. One of Arthur Park's sons went with them. They all purchased land there. Later on after the war some of the same families went on "west". The Scots-Irish did like to maintain their traditional naming pattern for their children. 1st son after the paternal grandfather, 2nd son after the maternal grandfather. The daughters were reversed, and the would again name the 4th son for the fraternal grandfather, if something had happened to the 1st son. The also usually gave the son the mother's maiden name for a middle name. Emalu At 10:04 PM 5/2/05 -0400, you wrote: >Emalu, >I couldn't let this one get by without at least trying.
