ORVAL EUGENE "GENE" BOYD MOUNT ZION - Orval Eugene (Gene) Boyd, 66, of Dunlap, formerly of Mount Zion, died Friday (June 3, 2005) in Denver, Colo., after a seven-month battle with esophageal cancer. Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday in Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home, Peoria. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Monday. Burial will be in Willow Brook Cemetery, Fisher. Memorials: University Hospital Cancer Center, Box 6508, Mail Stop F485, Aurora, CO 80045. Mr. Boyd was born Oct. 21, 1938, in Normal, the son of Orval and Alice Haile Boyd. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1956-1958. He worked at York Radio and TV in Decatur for 18 years and retired from working at Klaus Electronics in Peoria as a sales manager after 20 years of service. After retirement, he worked at OSF as a courier. He married Judy Benningfield on June 11, 1961, in Elliott. Surviving are his wife, sons, Brett Boyd and wife Michelle of Fisher; Eric Boyd of Denver, Colo.; and Brad Boyd and wife Susan of Denver, Colo.; mother, Alice of Rantoul; and grandchildren, Brandon, Tyler, and Ella. He was preceded in death by his father. This terrible disease took his life, but his spirit lives on in everyone who knew him. We will all remember his everlasting smile.
