Harry- Rev. William Boyd was the fourth child of John Boyd who was born in Scotland and immigrated to Penn. with his father - Capt. John Boyd. he was born abt 1757 in Cumberland Co PA and was 12 or 13 when his father died. He attended Princeton? College and graduated abt 1778. He taught in an academy near Annapolis MD and later for a private family in Baltimore. In 1783 he was ordained by the Donegal Presbytery and accepted a church in Lamington, NJ where he pastored for the remainder of his life. He died in 1807 and is buried in the Lamington Cemetery, Somerset County, NJ. He married Catherine Ker Taylor - daughter of Col John and Lydia Ker Taylor- and was probably a resident of Lamington when the Rev. Boyd moved there. All this from the book, The Boyd Family by Carl Oaks. Maria
Hi! That history of Rev. Boyd rules him out as a possible father of my William. Thanks! There are still William and Andrew William on the tax lists at the same time as Rev. William. Hopefully some info will pop up on them.
