    2. I feel so grateful to know something about each generation's personalities, foibles, interests, not just a name on a piece of paper. None of them was particularly famous or even notorious but they did write letters and diaries, some of which I have or have seen. And I had a grandmother who loved to tell family stories and with whom I spent a great deal of time.
