    3. Anna - that's the fun part of genealogy! Years ago I went to Va, rented a car & drove all over counties there, and I went to the VA State Library. I jumped over streams & waded Rivers in King & Queen Co., Spotslvania, Orange, Botetourt. I found a lot of info, and it was way cool to walk around my 6th gr.grandfathers original 5,000 acres in Spots & Orange...1732 land grant. Part of it was shopping centers & parking lots, but it was interesting to imagine how it was when Anthony owned it. 2. Once every few years I drive over to my gr. grandfather's Plantation, Green Plains, in Matthews County. I have really old photos of the place, of his wife and daughter, of the place before someone with lots of money gentrified it, sometimes even sit on the porch if no one is around and view the ice house where, it is told, his sister in law locked the Yankee soldier in. (Someone said that if all the stories of Yankee soldiers in ice houses were true there wouldn't have been any Northern Army left to fight) On Jul 11, 2005, at 12:26 AM, Jan Curtis wrote: > Anna - that's the fun part of genealogy! > > Years ago I went to Va, rented a car & drove all over counties there, > and I > went to the VA State Library.
