Jean, The Chapter on the North Umberland Boyd's is limited to the Family of Lieut. Thomas Boyd "who served with Gen. Sullivan's army 1779. The authors Father Hiram Boyd had exchanged information with Mary Boyd brother of Thomas in 1842. Mary tells Hiram that John is supposed to be the ancestor to this family in America. John after parting with his brother Ebenezer in New York City went to Orange County, N.Y then moved to Washintonville, Northumberland Co, PA. He married a Miss Hathorn and had four children. She was not sure of the birthplace Ireland or Scotland. She thought he was born around 1720. The Four Children were: John (oldest) William, Mary and Thomas. John (son) was thought to have been killed by savages while he as out with some soldiers he belonged to. William fell in the Memorial battle of Brandywine Sept 11 1777 while serving with Washington's army. Mary was born 1763 near Washintonville, PA Thomas was born in 1757 near Washintonville, PA.
