    3. Hello! Andrew Boyd had three sons and two daughtersthat are talked about in a biography I previouly mentioned. Andrew, Archibald and William my gr.gr. grandfather. A court record in Monongalia Co. (W) Va. says Andrew Boyd bought a farm in Monongalia Co. Va.(now W.Va.) on 1808 from a man named Galloway. This farm was located about 25 miles NE of Monongalia Co. court house on Hazel Run. This is between Coopers Rocks state park and Bruceton Mills, W. Va. and is now Preston Co. as of 1818. There were problems over the purchase agreement in later years but Andrew appairently lost his case. That document says Andrew came from Fayette Co. Pa. to move on this farm. In the 1810 census there is An. Boyd named and also An. W. Boyd in Monongalia Co. A second court doc. says a constable went to his farm and was accosted by Margaret(the elder)wife of the late Andrew Boyd, and Catherine and Margaret. His daughters had these names. He died sometiime between 1815 court date and the second date of 1817. I do not know where he is buried. The 1820 census show no Boyds whatsoever in Mon. Co. Va. But, now Andrew Boyd is in Prince Georges TWP Fayette Co Pa and Archibald Boyd is in Wharten TWP Fayette Co. Pa. They weren't there previously. When I reviewed the 1790 and 1800 census there are no Boyds with these names. There was an Andrew Boyd in Frederick Co. Pa. in 1790 and 1800 but he was gone in 1810. Did he move to Mon. Co Va and buy a farm? I don't know! One possible link. My gr.gr. grandfather says he was born in Maryland in the 1850 census. Second possible link!! A man named Conrad Show lives in Frederick MD in 1790 and 1800 census. He then shows up in Fayette Co. Pa in 1810. Later ,Archibald married Charlotte (Show) and was killed by the train in 1904. She was likely the grandaughter of Conrad Show. I have no information that says this Boyd family had a DAVID. This does not seem to be a name used by later generations in this family. 2. This is to anyone who might have a connection with the children of David Boyd, son of Andrew or Frederick MD. In looking thru some very old research, I ran across a reference to A. McKendree Boyd going to Oxford for his education. Forty years ago I didn't know enuff to make a note of where that info came from. I do know for a fact that he had connections with men in the British Parliament and in fact I have a painting of him in the alps on a wildflower hike with them and a Congressman from Alabama. Later in life he'd become a textile importer/exporter in Baltimore and went back and forth to Europe/England/Scotland. It occurs to me that if he did go to school abroad maybe some of his siblings did also. His father David was one of the founders of Frederick Female Seminary so obviously they had a lot of respect for education. Anna Grace Boyd Foster

    3. Just one more tidbit about my Andrew Boyd family. John Boyd, the oldest son of William and Rebecca, served in the 14th W.Va vol. Inf during the civil war. I have his pension file. All his signatures are an X with the words (His Mark) above the X. However his younger brother James, signed all his enlistment papers and there was no X to be found. A very decent hand writing, easily readable. I don't know if his parents could read and write. I don't recall seeing it marked on the census when the question was asked. 2. Has anyone done deep research into the Kilmarnock Boyd clan from the other side--that is: tracing who the main players were there and what happened to the ones who weren't beheaded--there must be records of the fates and adventures of children of the place. Anna Grace Boyd FOster
