Since I just started researching my family I have been waiting to see a posting from someone in my Boyd line before jumping in. Since none of my family has recently submitted this data I will put down what I know and hopefully I will hear from some of my long lost cousins! John Boyd came from Tyrone County, Ireland, and married Nancy Ann Carson, according to the Boyd Clan records, in Philadelphia, PA. John was born in 1803 and died 15 Jan 1853 in Washington County, Illinois. Nancy was born about 1805 and died 1 Mar 1860 in Washington County, Illinois. I have not yet found these records myself. I do know, however, that they lived in Washington County, Illinois according to census records in 1850 Their children were: 1. Mary Jane Boyd was born 30 OCT 1834 in Edwardsville, Madison Co, Il, and died 25 APR 1905 in Oakdale, Washington Co, Il. She was married to Francis Torrens on 14 Dec 1854 and they had 7 children. 2. Rebecca Boyd was born 14 NOV 1835 in Edwardsville, , Ill, and died 5 NOV 1920 in Oakdale, Washington, Ill. She was married to Robert Hood on 17 Jan 1858 and had 6 children. 3. Thomas Boyd was born 1836 in Edwardsville, Madison County , Ill, and died 12 JUL 1848. 4. Nancy Agnes Boyd born 31 Aug 1839, Washington county, Illinois and died December 12, 1932 at the age of 94 in Topeka, Kansas. When her parents died she and her brother ran the farm and raised the youngest children of the family. According to family legend she was active in helping runaway slaves northward before and during the Civil War. After the war, on 3 Mar 1870, she married Alexander McAllister, Junior and they lived in Pilot Knob, Washington county, Illinois. Alexander served in the 80th Illinois Infantry of the Civil War until he was shot through the jaw in the battle of Perryville. They had three boys: 1. My grandfather, John Boyd McAllister, was born 10 Oct 1873 and died in Los Angeles, California April 2, 1952. He married Mary Louise Mitchell in Marissa, St. Clair county, Illinois December 24, 1903. They moved to Greeley, CO in 1898 and then to Pasadena and Glendale, CA in 1920 with their 3 sons and 2 daughters. 2. Robert McAllister born about 1863 in Randolph County, Illinois and died in Los Angeles, California. He married Alba Druid in 16 Oct 1900 and moved to Eagle Rock, California in 1930 with their son and daughter. 3. Richard McAllister born about 1865 in Randolph county, Illinois and died in Philadelphia, PA in 1964. He married Rebecca McClintock in Illinois in and moved to Topeka, Kansas and later to Philadelphia, PA. As far as I can tell from census and other records, his only child died at birth. 5. John Boyd was born 28 JUN 1840 in Pilot Knob, Washington, Ill., and died 10 OCT 1933 in Oakdale, Washington Co, Il. He was married to Emily Rebecca McClurken about 1869 and had 5 children. 6. Isabella Boyd was born 28 JUN 1842 in Pilot Knob, Washington, Ill., and died 4 FEB 1938. She was married to William Miller on 17 Mar 1868 and had 8 children. 7. Richard Boyd was born 3 AUG 1844 in Pilot Knob, Washington, Il, and died 9 SEP 1934 in Oakdale, Washington, Il. He married Sarah Jane Auld 10 MAR 1870 in Oakdale, Washington, Il, daughter of James Auld and Sarah Jane Reynolds. She was born 6 MAR 1852 in New Concord, Muskingum, Oh, and died 12 APR 1932 in Oakdale, Washington, Il. They had 8 children.
