Looking for any information on Reverand William Boyd, William Boyd and/or Andrew William Boyd from Somerset Co., Bedminster Twp. New Jersey. The are on the tax lists in the 1780s and 1790s for that area. I'm trying to connect them to Andrew Boyd and/or Andrew William Boyd in the 1810 census for Monongalia Co. (W) Va. Regards, Harry
Hi! William and Rebecca had a son named John Boyd who was born about 1818 or 1819. He married to a Lovina ????? in Uniontown Pa. in 1849. He was a Union civil war soldier in the 14th W.Va. infantry. After the war he went to Ohio and later moved on to Osage Co. Kansas where he died in 1899. I have his pention file. They never had any children! William Boyds sons were named John, William, James(my gr grandfather), and Cornelius. Cornelius was named ( most likely ) after Rebecca's brother by the same name. I think that William's dad was named Andrew but I am not sure. Wm. is about 39 yrs old in 1810 census so I figure his dad was born around 1750 or before. No information on the order in which he and his sisters were born. Harry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jane C. My Alexander Boyd b. abt 1727 had a brother Francis that was the executor of Alexander"s estate. However there is Hugh Boyd with a will in Chester Co. PA, that has children all with the same naming pattern as Alexander's and names a Robert Finley (son-in-law) as a co-executor. A Robert Finley is later part of the estate of Alexander's family. All the area in which these families are living is next door to New Jersey. Alexander Boyd is on the Clan Boyd site, that John Boyd maintains. As well as information in these archives. Hope this helps. There was another Boyd family in Cecil Co. MD, but as of this time I don't have any connection to their lines. My grandfather was Austin Boyd from the Pike County, MS area, b. Aug. 8, 1880; d. Oct. 18, 1968. His father was named John and was married to George Ann, but this is all I have on my great grandparents. Any help is appreciated. My gr, gr grandfather was born in about 1771 and according to the 1850 census he was born in Maryland. Is this the time period you are talking about? It sounds very possible there could be a connection if we are talking about the same time period. None of the first names fit. William Boyd married Rebecca Austin in 1813 in (W) Va. She is also listed as born in Maryland. Her parents were John and Sarah Austin. Rebecca was born in 1796. As you can see she was much younger than him! Hi Mike, Very interesting, will definitly look to see what I can find. I have a copy of Tempe Fenn Crosby's book on the Andrew Body family and will look in it to see what I can find on John and Austin. (It's all digital copies, so may take me a while to look through.) I'll get back to you asap. Since Austin was from Pike County, Mississippi, it's very possible he's related. Hi Jodie, Would you happen to have any further information on Andrew's son, John D.? My grandfather was Austin Boyd from the Pike County, MS area, b. Aug. 8, 1880; d. Oct. 18, 1968. His father was named John and was married to George Ann, but this is all I have on my great grandparents. Any help is appreciated. Harry, Collier's Station is/was in Brook Co. VA/WV in the panhandle. My Boyd's hail from Cecil Co. MD right next door to New Jersey. I know that my Boyd clan were in the Chester Co. PA area, it is such a short distance, it would be easy to include New Jersey. Hugh and Alexander are popular among the family, as well as Robert & Francis.
