    1. The Lists
    2. RichBoyd
    3. As some of you noticed, a list server that houses some of the RootsWeb lists had some problems for the past week or so, resulting in no list mail from the lists using that machine. This problem has now been corrected, and things should be back to normal. In the future, if you stop receiving mail from this list, there are four steps you can take to try to find out why. 1) TRY TO SEND A QUERY TO THE LIST ABOUT AN ANCESTOR. If you receive your query back through the list, that means that the list is working ok, but that people are just not posting. If your query does NOT get posted on the list, and/or you do not receive it, 2) GO TO PASSWORD CENTRAL to see if you are subscribed to the list - http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com/ Enter your e-address in the box on that page and check the appropriate box to see which lists you are on. You will be sent an e-mail that will tell you all the lists to which you are currently subscribed. If you are subscribed, but not receiving mail, 3) GO TO ROOTSWEB HELPDESK http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/form1.html to see if there is any information in the yellow box on the left telling about a problem with a list server If there is no information in the yellow box on the left telling about a problem, If doing all of these things doesn't tell you why you are not receiving your mail, 4) ASK THE ROOTSWEB HELPDESK about it. http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/form1.html - just fill in the form and submit it - someone will get back to you by e-mail.

    2. RichBoyd
    3. Hello, Cheryl sent this to me and I am posting it on the list. Please contact Cheryl if you know who purchased these papers: cheryljl@earthlink.net There was an auction on e bay a couple of years ago and the discharge papers for Wiley Boyd were auctioned off. My great grandfather was Colonel Lewis Johnson and he signed those discharge papers. I would be very interested in finding out who bought them because I would like to have a picture or copy of them. I am writing a book on the 44th usct and would like to include a copy in the book. Could you help me find who has these papers? Thank you so much in advance. Cheryl Johnson Ludecke, Great Granddaughter of Colonel Lewis Johnson cheryljl@earthlink.net

    1. The Ulster Covenant, Ireland, 1912
    2. RichBoyd
    3. The Ulster Covenant 1912 The Ulster Covenant was part of a response by Ulster Unionists to the efforts of successive Westminster governments to settle the running sore of the 'Irish Question' by giving Ireland a limited measure of local autonomy known as 'Home Rule'. The first two Home Rule Bills, in 1886 and 1893, had been rejected by Parliament, following concerted pressure from Unionists in Great Britain and Ireland. "The archive of the Ulster Unionist Council, held by the Public Record Office of Northern Ireland contains just under half a million original signatures and addresses of the men who, on 28 September 1912, signed the Ulster Covenant, and of the women who signed the parallel Declaration. In total, the Covenant was signed by 237,368 men, and the Declaration by 234,046 women." To see Lists of the Boyds (men and women) who signed who signed this document go to: http://clanboyd.info Thanks to Karen from Ohio for putting together this list. Richard G. Boyd
