    2. Charles Boyd
    3. I am tracing several Boyd families from the Chester area. One William Boyd, b abt 1735 was Deputy Surveyor in Chester District, SC, before and after the American Revolution. Land sales in Deed Books A and E in the Chester County Court House show that his wife was Ann Boyd. They had three sons (at least) James, Charles and William. After Ann died, he married Mary Cloud. I also have a William Boyd, b 1745, of Newberry District who had a brother Robert, b aft 1700. This William settled in the Chester County area of SC around 1772. The family were members of the Hopewell Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church, near Blackstock, Chester Co, SC. This William was married to Mary Dorman and Robert was married to Mary Peoples. 3. I have found that my gggrandfather name was Robert Zeddock Boyd, he was born in MS about 1850 and migrated before 1870 to Texas. I had thought his name was Zeb but have found his son's WWI draft registration card and it indicates Zeddock as the middle name. He is listed in a couple of census records as a junior and everything else fits. The counties in question in Texas are San Jacinto and Liberty counties with Montgomery sometimes.

    3. First I want to say Happy New Year to all. As the new year dawns not much has changed in my quest! I am still stuck at Robert Zeb Boyd b. abt. 1850 in Mississippi married to Senia Margaret Gray b. abt. 1850 in Mississippi. I believe that Robert's father was William Boyd, b. abt. 1827, living next door to him in 1870 in Liberty County, Texas. After this I lose track of William and all of his family. This is the way the census records look in 1870: 1870 Liberty County, Texas, Precinct #3, Tarkington Praire, P. O., August 5, 1870, Page 15=20 119 118 Boyd William 43 W M Farming Mississippi Mary 42 W F Housekeeping Mississippi Washington B. 16 W M Mississippi Missouri 10 W F Louisiana Sallie A. 9 W F Texas Josephine 6 W F Texas William P. 2/12 W M Texas Williamson Alexander 14 W M Texas Nancy 20 W F Alabama 120 119 Boyd Robert Z. 20 W M Farming Mississippi Cenie 20 W F Housekeeping Mississippi Alice A. 1 W F Texas William 3/12 W M Texas My great grandmother was born in 1875, her name was Sennie Margaret Melinda Arkansas Jane Boyd. Now the interesting part is in the 1880 census: 1880 San Jacinto County, Texas, District 2, June 25, 1880, Pg. 35 5 5 Boyd Robert Z. W M 30 Farmer Mississippi Ceny Wife W F 35 Keeping House Mississippi S Carolina Amanda A. Daughter W F 10 Texas Mississippi Mississippi William L. Son W M 9 Texas Mississippi Mississippi Mary E. Daughter W F 7 Texas Mississippi Mississippi Robert, Jr. Son W M 5 Texas Mississippi Mississippi Margarett Daughter W F 4 Texas Mississippi Mississippi No Name Son W M 2 Texas Mississippi Mississippi 6 6 Gray John W M 26 Louisiana N Carolina Mississippi Mary Wife W F 28 Louisiana Germany Louisiana Notice the John Gray living next door to Robert & Ceny, he was born in Louisiana and is Ceny's brother. Now go back to the 1870 census and notice Missouri Boyd born in Louisiana, this places both families in Louisiana within a six year period of each other but not Robert & Ceny. San Jacinto & Liberty Counties are adjacent to each other.

Boyd.  He was born 1818 in Ohio, married Anne Johnston, and died 1862 in Ashland County, Ohio.  I think his father was John Boyd, Jr., born between 1794-1798 in Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania who married Ann Baine in 1818 in Wayne County, Ohio.  But I can find no definite proof.   Lola Castor Thompson

    3. I have been unable to find any information to get back further generations in Ireland or Scotland with my BOYDS. Now, for the strange part of life....we moved here 2 1/2 years ago and about 1 year ago, the property next to us was sold. Guess what his last name is. Yep! BOYD! 3. Hi Rich, I have a similar problem. My Alexander Boyd is in Cecil Co. MD in 1780 (will probate) with a wife Margaret (will). But I have not been able to find any information that tells me who Alexander's parents might be or exactly from where or when he/they came to America. I believe that Alexander was a brother to Hugh Boyd from Chester Co. PA and he appoints his brother Frances as his executor. The names in Hugh's family are the same as the names in Alexander's family for the children and I have not seen any additional information on Frances. He might be the key to this family. Thanks for any help. Jane in Ohio jcgrezlik@bright.net

    3. Hi Everyone, The following message was sent to me by Jim Atchison and I am forwarding it to you all in hopes that one of our list members can give Jim some assistance. Please send your replys to Jim personally as he is not subscribed to the ClanBoyd list....Thanks, Karen from Ohio, USA Subject: Boyd/Crawford Questions Hi: I am from the other side of the Clan Boyd. I'm from the Clan Crawford. :-) I know Rebecca Crawford married Joseph Boyd and from there forward I have got it pretty well down but I wonder if you have perhaps come up with some better information regarding Rebecca. For example, we know Rebecca's father is Robert Crawford but a record shows Rebecca's father Robert died in 1777. Records and census show Rebecca was born abt 1788. Can you or other members of the Clan Boyd maybe fill in that blank?? Thanks, Jim Atchison jatchison@mindspring.com
