Hello My name is Charles Boyd and I was wondering where and how much can I get the Boyd Book for. In the past I have bought one of these books and the only thing they had was addresses. I am interested in John Boyd and Elizabeth Pepper in Giles Co Tennessee. Thank You Chuck Boyd my email address is Zrcb@aol.com The children of John Boyd and Elizabeth Pepper were Mary Arrabella Boyd Emma Boyd Caldonia Boyd Julia Boyd William Boyd All of them were born in Giles Co Tn Robert Boyd born in Scottsboro Al I found them on the 1840 and 1850 census living in Giles Co Tn. On the 1860 census they were living in Scottsboro Al. Elizabeth died in 1861 and John Died nov 1864 both in Scottsboro Al
There are six John Boyd's listed on the DAR online Patriot Index who served in PA. They are: 1) John Boyd b. 27 Jul 1750 in PA, married to Rebecca Bull. 2) John Boyd b. 1730 in Ireland, married to Agnes Cooper. 3) John Boyd b. 19 Dec 1736 in PA, married to Mary Bigham. 4) John Boyd b. circa 1740 in Ireland, married to Mary Fulton. 5) John Boyd b. 1715 in Ireland, married to Nancy Urie. 6) John Boyd b. Circa 1735 in PA, married to Martha (Unknown Surname). It is possible that this John Boyd as a member of the Pennsylvania Line served somewhere other than PA. With the information that you have you can download a PDF form from www.dar.org<http://www.dar.org/>. Once the site has loaded select Genealogy and then choose Application Paper Copy Requests. At the bottom on this page is the link to down load the form. Cost for a Record Copy is $10 U.S. and the request usually takes about 4 - 6 weeks once it is received in D.C. Hope this helps. Hello to All, I know the DNA subject had been on a few days back, but,LOL. While waiting in a Doctors office today I read a story about DNA and ancestry. The article was in TIME July 11th issue, page 49, very informative. Anyone interested may be able to go to the TIME web site and read the story. Just trying to help. Have you tried looking at the 1930 census for Mildred? You could maybe work your way back through the census that way and get clues where they lived and then try historical societies in the counties you find them. Deborah, I found the following in the 1900 census, DeKalb Co., AL (Ancestry.com's census images). Looks like this may be your Boyd: DeKalb Co., AL, Ft. Payne Dist., Ft. Payne City, 1 June 1900, HH# 8/8 Boyd, Robt. ? (looks like an A?), head, wm, Oct. 1824, 75, married 15 years, farmer, SC, VA, SC Boyd, Louisa H., wife, wf, Apr 1867, 33, married 15 years, GA, GA, GA Boyd, Margaret, dau, wf, Aug 1886 (?), 13, AL, SC, GA Boyd, Roxie P., dau, wf, Sept 1890, 9, AL, SC, GA Boyd, Robt. H.H.C. or J.H.C. (hard to read), son, wm, Jan 1896, 6, AL, SC, GA Boyd, Bill green, son, wm, Jan 1897, 3, AL, SC, GA This is the way it was indexed by Ancestry but the image shows the middle name to be Green: Name: Bill guon Boyd Home in 1900: Fort Payne, De Kalb, Alabama Age: 3 Estimated birth year: 1897 Birthplace: Alabama Race: White Relationship to head-of-house: Son Image source: Year: 1900; Census Place: Fort Payne, De Kalb, Alabama; Roll: T623 14; Page: 1A; Enumeration District: 68. This more than likely is Robert's second family. Note the age difference between him and his wife. Also, they had been married only 15 years which means he married her when he was 60 and she was 18. Of course, he may have been a "late bloomer." :-) There is a Campbell family (head of house born in VA) two doors down with a daughter also named Roxie. Some of my Boyds married Campbells but don't know if this means anything or not. This is not my Boyd family but I am interested in all Boyds who came from SC to Georgia and Alabama. Mine came from SC too (Newberry), but my direct line stayed in Georgia. Some relatives went to Alabama and to points west. If I find anything else will let you know. Hope this helps. I've been able to get back to John Boyd (c1777-??) who married Sarah Stewart (c1781-??) probably in Eglish Parish, Armagh Ireland. They had at least 4 children baptised in Eglish; Alexander (1803-??), Isaiah (1804-1878), Mary (1808-??) and William (1810-??). Isaiah married Sarah Hardie and they had 3 children presumably also born in Ireland named James (c1836-??), John (c1843-??) and Sarah Jane (c1839-??). At some point between 1839 and 1851, Isaiah and his family returned to Kilmarnock where both he and his wife are buried. The marriage of James (to Hellen Rodgers) and John (to Catherine Connel) were registered in Kilmarnock. John appears to have stayed in Scotland but James ( a blacksmith by trade) moved first to Springburn Lanarkshire where their 3 children James (1862-??), William (1864-??) and John (1868-1868) were born. John died in infancy just prior to passage from Glasgow to NYC aboard the Britannia in 1868. They are next found in Paterson NJ and eventually move to NYC with an expanded family including another John (c1869-??), Alexander (1872-1935), David (c1875-<1910) and Jane (c1879). Alexander and David become NYC firefighters but David (my ggrandfather) dies an untimely death and his wife Edith Clark is left to raise their son Charles David (1899-1949). Most of my research has been focussed on direct ancestral lines but after finding 100% match with another Boyd line I agree that the branches are definitely worth investigating. I'd be surprised if everyone wouldn't have something to gain from participating in the DNA project. Even if there is no match today the information is constantly being cross matched as new people participate in the project. I'm in the process of identifying Boyds in the Carmavy Parish in Antrim as potential ancestors. If a male relative of Heather were to be an exact match then her reference to Carrickfergus would make the link stronger and suggest where we might both concentrate more thoroughly. Similarly with CJ - a connection there would make sense to redirect efforts toward Ballycastle...or we may find that Connie and I are closely related which would make sense in that I'm already matched with a line of Boyds that came directly from Ireland and settled in the Muskoka area of Ontario. Given the information Heather, CJ and Connie have provided thus far there is no apparent reason to make a connection but with the support of DNA confirmation it gives us all new leads to take. And, no, I don't own shares in Famiily Tree ;-) Cheers, Debbie > For Deborah Boyd; Away from the DNA for abit.... Thanks Al, The time frame is about right for my John Boyd, but I can't prove a thing on him. Just have his name off a death certificate. However a son was born in Halifax VA in 1816 and some were born in TN and some in SC so it seems like a dead end for my "John". Although I think his son David was in SC at one point.
