    3. Sheila, We are glad you are researching Kincaid ancestors again. We have seen several of your posts on the Rootsweb Stirlingshire, Scotland List, including some on James and Isabella. It is good to see you agree with Peter A. Kincaid of Canada on the parents of James being John Kincaid and Agnes Allen. We look forward to your further Kincaid research and wish you Godspeed on finding one of James and Isabella's male line to do the Kincaid DNA test! Don W. Kincaid Kincaid DNA Surname project team ----- Original Message ----- From: Sheila Perry To: CLAN-KINCAID@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, September 22, 2007 1:25 PM Subject: [CLAN-KINCAID] intro - James Kincaid of Campsie Hello I have just re-started my research into my Kincaid ancestors after focussing on some of the other lines - I am a Morrison by birth and there have been some interesting DNA developments with that clan, something I see is also under discussion here. I noticed while browsing the list archives that someone had commented on the information on my website at http://www.perryweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/new%20family%20history.html so others may be interested in having a look, although I must admit the Kincaids only play a fairly small part in the story so far! I am a descendant of James Kincaid and Isabella Baird of Campsie via their daughter Isabella who married Thomas Morrison (whose father Duncan had migrated to Campsie from Comrie, in Perthshire) - my great-grandparents. The whole family seems to have worked in the calico industry - James Kincaid was described as a gas maker in one census, and his brother John lived with the Morrisons for a time and was a gas engineer. There were also some pattern makers etc in the family. My great-grandfather himself was a clerk to the company. Isabella sadly died young and we think she had been in poor health for a while as there were some servants recorded as living with them in one of the census records. The grave of my great-grandparents is in front of the big ruined church in Lennoxtown. I am in touch with a second cousin on this side of the family and I've discovered that almost all the male people from then until the present day were scientists or engineers. Unfortunately I have not made contact with any male Kincaids who could 'represent' us for DNA testing! However I will be interested to hear from anyone who thinks they may be connected. best wishes, Sheila ___________________________________________________________ Yahoo! Answers - Got a question? 1. Scottish Information Society request and information
    2. Dear Clan Representatives: The Scottish Information Society (SIS), formed 1987, is comprised of and exists in support of those who volunteer their time at the clan tents, working events at various venues. One member delegate from each Clan, House or Scottish Society is invited to join to represent their officially recognized clan/society organization. We are in the process of revamping our web site http://www.scottishinfo.org It is currently off line, however, it is our hope to have it back up and functional before the end of April. We hope to include many helpful elements for the public to view. Currently one of the major projects in process is a comprehensive games listing for all 50 US states. In future, we hope to be able to add an International games listing. I would appreciate it if you would email me directly at confido@ix.netcom.com with: the most current contact information for your Clan, especially: the name of your Chief the names and contact information for those that convene your tents or are area commissioners the name and contact information for your genealogist(s) the name and contact information for your clan historian(s) the name and contact information for your editor(s) the name of your clan newsletter and frequency of publication the URL/information re your clan's official discussion group... is it this list at Rootsweb? or is it different? the name and contact information for whoever may be in charge of your DNA project the URL for your clan's OFFICIALLY sanctioned website -- sorry no personal or non-sanctioned sites can be linked Additonally, SIS, will have a tent at the upcoming Sacramento Valley (California) Caledonia Club Games, in Woodland, California, at the end of April. If you will send some information regarding your clan, we will be pleased to have it on hand, whether or not your representative is able to attend and host a tent at the event. We would also appreciate your mailing a copy or copies of your newsletter, in order that we may share with the public part of what your clan has to offer to its members. If you manage, sponsor or sanction DNA projects for your clan, please mail information regarding the project(s) and we will make it available at the tent for those interested. Also, for those of you interested, there is a Scot DNA project that all Scots and Scot Clans are welcome to join or share DNA results with, no matter which service you used. John Hansen is the Project Manager. You will find more information about this project at http://www.scottishdna.net and also in the Scot-DNA@rootsweb.com list archives. Details re that list will be found here: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/intl/SCT/SCOT-DNA.html Write me off list and I will provide the postal mailing addresss for receipt of your printed materials. Thank you. And thanks to all of your volunteers which give so generously and unselfishly of their time to share with and educate the public about your Clan's history and that of Scotland. 1. Learning the craft of genealogy online
    2. Kylie Veale
    3. Fellow genealogists, Have you ever used the Internet to learn about genealogy methods and resources? Taken a genealogy course online? Read some 'how to' articles? Then I would like to hear from you. I am an Australian Ph.D. student who is currently writing a book chapter for an academic Virtual Learning Environment publication - my chapter is about using the Internet for genealogical education. I would therefore love to hear from you, fellow genealogists, about any Internet-based content you've used for genealogy education. This includes online courses (free or fee), how-to's, articles/columns, newsgroups, BBS, chat, mailing lists, forums, or even personal web pages that publish learning material - anything online that helps you in learning the craft of genealogy. Your comments on the following is of utmost interest: What are your favourite learning outlets on the Internet? How often do you use them? Can or did you find what you needed online? What are your learning successes? What could be better? What do you look for in genealogical learning on the Internet? If you would like to participate, your comments are extremely welcome. Please send your comments to me directly at research@veale.com.au before Saturday 1st May 2004. I thank you in advance for your participation in this academic research. Kylie Veale P.S. Names and email addresses will be protected and are therefore not included in the publication. Copies of the paper will be made available to interested participants on request, after the book has been published. ----------------------------------------------- Kylie J.
