Found out that the 63rd GA was just being organized at Savannah in Dec 1862, mainly from men assigned to coastal batteries, so, nope, not the Sullivan in the story. It was at Wagner in Jul 1863, was supposed to transfer to the Army of Northern Virginia, but got rerouted to the Army of Tennessee instead. Thought the Sullivan in the 11th GA might be someone to look at, as the 11th GA Regiment was assigned to Hood's Division at Fredericksburg, but it turns out he was in the 11th <Battalion>, which was consolidated into the 47th GA and assigned to the Army of Tennessee.
