Bob: Do not take the word "Deserted" to be of any significance. It was common if someone was being treated for wounds, whatever, for them to call them deserted should they not appear at stand-up. They said the same about my great grandfathers, in fact I proved that they were in the hospital at Gettysburg being treated. They had been taken prisoner as well many different times when they were classified as "deserted". Don't believe all that you read. Remember Lincoln's quote.l Joan Keller
