Brian My estimate based on the statistics that I have come across is 40,000 CSA Irish-born against 140,000 in the Union ranks. This was achieved by comparing total numbers fighting on both sides the predominance of Irish arriving in the North vs the South. It is still a SWAG. I would also be happy to see real stats. Mike
