I have another naturalization question please. My gg-gparents , COTTER'S & O'KEEFE'S, came to America from Ireland in 1849. My g-gfather , William COTTER. was 9 yrs old. In the Civil War served in the Union 67th out of Ohio. If my gg-gfather applied for naturalization/citizenship, would his wife & children automatically become citizens also? Or would my g-gfather have had to apply on his own? And if his father never did apply, And if he did after serving in the Civil War, would his wife & children then also become citizens?
