Hellow all, I'm a new member to this group and enjoyed reading the postings thus far. I'm very interested in irish history and customs of the 19th century, mainly because I've traced my mother's family to the late 1800's. The surnames include Boyle, Bannon, Denning, Jackson, and White. The area where they come from is Cootehill, Co. Cavan, so I am interested in this area the most. I also do civil war reenacting and I portray an irish emmigrant soldier of the 19th century - so more knowledge of Ireland of that time helps here as well. Besides Sheridan and O'Rorke, does any one know of any soldiers - private, officers, union or confederate, who came from Co. Cavan and its vicinity in Ireland? I appretiate any help on this.
