    3. Ida Here is the HDS data on your man. Note how the name is spelled if you send to the NARA for his records: Bartholomew Scanlon Residence not listed; Enlisted on 4/22/1861 as a Sergeant. On 4/22/1861 he mustered into "F" Co. PA 7th Infantry He was Mustered Out on 7/29/1861 at Harrisburg, PA Sources: History of Pennsylvania Volunteers, 1861-1865 I have searched the information I have on the Seveth PA and do not find his name. Perhaps sending for his records to the NARA will give the reason for his muster out so close after mustering in. He may have been transferred to a Regular Army assignment. On the other hand you may want to check this Confederate soldier out although it is highly unlikely they are the same because in 1860 there was a Bartholomew Scanlon living in Virginia and it is doubtful it is the same one: Bartholomew Scanlon Enlist Date Enlist Place Enlist Rank Enlist Age 22 June 1861 Priv Served Virginia Enlisted I Co. 33rd Inf Reg. VA Deserted on 01 November 1862 Source: The Virginia Regimental Histories Series Abbreviation: VA Roster C
