They more information you have, the better the odds. If you now his wife's name, you might be able to check the records in Spring Grove, Iowa. Sometimes you get lucky, sometimes it takes a lot of digging. You indicated you knew where he is buried, if you can get a photo of the stone (or see it in person) it very well may have some service information on it. Check sites like www.findagrave.com, I have found stones online before, obviously they aren't all there though.
