LIsters, One of my relatives enlisted in a New York infantry regiment at the age of 44 and died in battle. He left a widow and seven children under the age of 18. The widow applied for a pension and received $8 a month. How was the amount fixed by the government? What guidelines did the agency use, and is that published on line somewhere? Thanks.
