Hope this doesn't post twice but the first message doesn't look like it sent..... Mike, Thanks for the information. I had a gg-uncle in the 16th NC who made it out of Gettysburg but was taken prisoner at Falling Waters. Brenda, If you don't already have the information on your gg-uncle, I'd be glad to send you what I can find in North Carolina Troops 1861-1865: A Roster. I'm sorry, I think I missed his name, but if you'd like the info I have, just let me know. Edward
COMPANY C This company was from Yancey County and enlisted at Burnsville on May 1, 1861. It was then mustered into service and assigned to this regiment as Company C. After joining the regiment the company functioned as a part of the regiment, and its history for the war period is recorded as a part of the regimental history. The intbrmation contained in the following roster of the company was compiled principally from company muster rolls for August 31, 1861; November, 1861-February, 1862; January-February, 1863; and July, 1863-October, 1864. No company muster rolls were found for the period prior to August 31, 1861; for September-October, 1861; March-December, 1862; March-June, 1863; or for the period after October, 1864. In addition to the company muster rolls, Roll of Honor records, receipt rolls, hospital records, prisoner of war records, and other primary records, supplemented by state pension applications, United Daughters of the Confederacy records, and postwar rosters and histories, all provided useful information. Hello Edward, Thank you for your kind offer. Actually I have some information on my gg-uncle Wilson Hensley, but I would appreciate you checking to see if you can find anything on his twin brother Archibald Hensley. I have virtually nothing on Archibald other than the fact that he also was with the 16th NC and was killed at Chancellorsville on May 3. I am still searching for Archibald's burial location but am not having much luck with that either. Thanks, Brenda --- Edward Harding <eharding2@cox.net> wrote: > Brenda, > > If you don't already have the information on your > gg-uncle, I'd be glad to > send you what I can find in North Carolina Troops > 1861-1865: A Roster.
