Does anyone have anymore information on this subject? Thomas W. Custer, 2nd Lt. 6th Mich. Cavalry Ist Citation was at Battle of Nazomine Church, VA for capturing the enemy flag. 2nd Citation was for the Battle of Sailor Creek, VA. For the second citation Tom leaped his horse over the enemy's works & captured 2 strands of colors. During this action his horse was shot out from under him & he received a severe wound to his face. Tom Custer was the only man to receive 2 Medals of Honor during the Civil War. He was killed with his brother at the Battle of Little Big Horn. Sincerely, Mike Peters npeters102@aol.com
