    1. [CIVIL-WAR] Civil War Grave Marker
    2. I have a question about a grave marker. This is actually an atrocity in my opinion and the Schaefer Rootsweb List is trying to find some help in this matter without tipping off the sellers of a Civil War grave marker that is on ebay. We could really use your input on a few things. 1] What does the H.V.C stand for? 2] We have not been able to locate this man's info online in rosters to our satisfaction because of the many spelling variations of the surname Schaefer. 3] What are our options in a case like this? The item may be viewed by going to ebay.com and the item number is 2194059513. If you enter that number into the search box on ebay, it'll pull a Civil War grave marker for F.W. Schaefer. Please email me with any input. Time is running out on this item. Sherri Schaefer Bagby www.berlindog.com

    3. I found F.W. Schaefer 3rd NJ CAV at www.civilwar.nps.gov I believe the H.V.C. was a Veterans organization. In any case, the organization must have presented this to the family of the deceased upon his death. It may or may not have been placed on his grave. If you truly believe this marker has been stolen from the grave, you should notify Ebay of the possibility and they would notify the proper authorities to check it out... Whatever you decide to do, do it quickly. The auction will be over soon.
