This unit was mostly from Cleveland County, NC. Is there any way to find out just where on the battlefield they were?? The 55th NC Infantry was part of A. P. Hill's Corps, Heth's Division & Joseph R. Davis' Brigade. (Believe this to be the nephew of Jefferson Davis.) On the first day, IIRC, the 55th was engaged in the McPherson' s Ridge/Willoughby Run/Railroad cut area northwest of Gettysburg. They also played a part in Pickett's Charge on Day 3. Sincerely, Mike Peters npeters102@aol.com
