I found from experience that the Rootsweb/Ancestry.Com sites, though convenient, were rather ineffective in helping to answer my history and military service questions, primarily because the vast majority of participants are other family genealogists. The strength of the message boards at History-Sites.Com is that they combine professional and serious amateur historians with the family researchers.
