    3. Derick, Im not trying to elevate the heat and respectily trust your dedicated work. Again I dont know of other states, but the local UDC here in Taylor County Georgia indeed did place a traditional Confederate headstone in front of the origional family placed headstone for my wifes ancestor..Zachariah Beeland who is buried outside of Reynolds Georgia. They are very active here and have constant fundraisings for such purposes. I know the head of the local chapter and do know that they paid for,,and installed the new stone while leaving the origional in place. I can get photos if you wish to see them. The origional is worn,,but very readable. I suggest anyone looking to get a stone placed,,,to simply notify the local chapter and inquire there. Kevin

    3. Kevin, I deeply admire the work of the UDS as well as that of the OCR. We work very closely with both of these fine organizations. I guess what I want to say is this: Don't let anyone tell you that the government (VA) can refuse to supply a grave marker for a Confederate veteran. Your local SVC, UDC or OCR can tell you how to obtain one. --Derick ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kevin Frye" <frye@gnat.net> To: <CIVIL-WAR-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, November 06, 2003 8:58 PM Subject: Re: [CIVIL-WAR] Re: CSA marker > Derick, > Im not trying to elevate the heat and respectily trust your dedicated > work. > Again I dont know of other states, but the local UDC here in Taylor > County Georgia indeed did place a traditional Confederate headstone in front > of the origional family placed headstone for my wifes ancestor..Zachariah > Beeland who is buried outside of Reynolds Georgia.
