Bagby, M.D. who wrote the books you refer too, which many times touched on the subject of the Civil War era, is related to my husband John J. Bagby, Sr. We own the book, The Old Virginia Gentleman and Other Sketches. It too has Dr. Bagby's signature and his photo from a drawing. I have a drawing of his wife also that was contributed to me by her ancestor, a Chamberlayne....
