There has been a little activity of late on the Civil War List re various Civil War outfits, where they fought, etc. I don't want to be left out. I had three great grandfathers in the First Confederate Cavalry Regiment. This unit of KY, AL and TN companies was apparently established, at least on paper, on or about the 1st of April 1862. However, the pieces were not brought together until after the Battle of Shiloh. There were 4 companies from KY, two from AL which were quickly transfered to Roddey's 4th AL, 4 original TN companies and two additional TN companies to replace those that went to AL. Those from TN were: Co. E, Haywood-Lauderdale Co. F, Shelby-Henry Co. G, Hardin Co. H, White-Vanburen Co. I, Shelby Co. K, Hamilton Before consolidation, I suppose all these TN companies were Independent like Co. G from Hardin Co. I am trying to write a unit history of G Company and would like to Discuss the First Confederate Cavalry with anyone interested. Thanks, David
