I have been reading all these letters, & have a great deal of help from friends like you-all, being a little older than some of you, will turn 76 Oct 25th, Please don't send gifts under $1,000! I'm a ww2 vet. Navy, served in Pacific. I couldn't help feeling sorry for the unfortunate prisoners, Would like to add some humor now, that wasn't then. ( This came from pension records) Granpa being in Athens, Ala. 1864 became very ill, but refused to go to sick bay, was told to go on a scout to drive the rebels back, ( no offence Johnys) His friend got permission to go in his place, guess what.....he got captured. After the war he said if he would of known ahead he wouldn't of went. I guess if gramp would of went & was captured he wouldn't of survided & I wouldn't be here! still looking for his grave site. If this is out of line please let me know, AND............. Have a musket, " ball"! Ken.
