I also looked this soldier up in North Carolina Troops 1861-1865 A Roster and saw where it says his occupation was a "man of pleasure" before enlisting. Since the information for these books was taken from old unit records, muster rolls, old UDC records, etc, I'd say this is not a typo. I certainly don't know what a "man of pleasure" was, but from the sounds of it, he must have had one whopping good time! <grin> Edward
I think someone replied yesterday and said that this "man of pleasure" meant that he was financially independent. That is, doesn't really have an occupation but rather just enjoys himself in life.
