Trying to figure out if Major David Thompson SIMS was in the Civil War. He was b.1814 NC so in 1860 he would have been age 46. Is that too old for serving? He was listed in the 1860 census in Polk Cty, NC. By the 1870 census, he was in Edgefield Cty, SC. Any help is greatly appreciated. Sara
