    3. Cindy, There is only one Joseph Poulter listed in the CWSS System, and he was a private in Company K, 148th Indiana Infantry (that's a US unit). The regiment organized at Indianapolis and mustered 25 Feb 1865 and mustered out 5 Sep 1865. Its entire service was guard and garrison duty in central Tennessee. If you're in Indiana, the State Archives has some resources (see http://www.in.gov/icpr/archives/databases/civilwar/resource.html ), particularly indexes to the records at NARA, but his actual service and pension records will be at NARA (see http://www.archives.gov/genealogy/military/civil-war/index.html ). The Indiana War Memorial also offers photos of battle flags in their collection. Noticed that they have the 148th's National flag in the inventory. See http://www.in.gov/iwm/battleflags/ Dennis ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Monday, February 13, 2006 4:34 PM Subject: [CIVIL-WAR] Joseph POULTER-Indiana >I am looking for information on the Civil War service of my great-great > grandfather Joseph POULTER ...
