Thank you so much. I hail from the Blackman, Jordan fellows. I'm trying to find out if Andrew Jordan died in battle. He appears on the 1860 Barnwell Cty, SC census, then his wife (Susannah) appears on the 1870 Barnwell Cty, SC census living with a son. Have any idea how I could find this info? Sara Civilwardatabase lists a Pvt. Andrew Jordan and a 2nd Lt. Andrew F Jordan serving in co H 14 South Carolina. It does not indicate if they/he survived or not. The two entries could be the same man since normally you mustered in again when you changed rank. You may want to check South Carolina Archives and see if they have information on your man.
