There was a W.N. Garrett from Hot Springs NC. He would be in command of the 64th NC Infantry after Colonel Allen and Lt. Colonel Keith resigned following the Shelton Laurel Massacre. At the time of the Shelton Laurel incident, Garrett was a major and on detached duty. Promoted to Lt. Colonel, he would command the 64th until they would be one of the regiments that would surrender at the Cumberland Gap. I'm not aware where he died, though I believe Hot Springs NC is near the TN. border. James Horton.

Thanks James, Hardin County sits astraddle of the Tennessee River with Lauderdale Co., AL and Tishomingo Co., MS being it's southern neighbors. Col. Garrett is buried in Bethel Cemetery located about 5 miles south of Savannah, the county seat. No dates.
