Thanks to another person on the list, I think I have verified that he was a POW at Rock Island, which record says he was captured on that date and place. Not sure he went directly to Rock Island or via Camp chase or Sandusky. If you know more than I do about Chickamauga, tell me whether Sept 10 was a battle date. All I know is that it was a kind of wind for the Confederates but Thomas helped a lot to limit the losses for the North. Ed Burke Hi ~ I've not been following this discussion completely, until I saw the name James Hendricks. Do you know if this soldier, after being captured, survived and if so, who he was married to or his children, etc.? The reason I became intrigued (besides trying for years to find my ? Hendricks) is seeing the name of BURKE, because my Hendrick(s) line supposedly had a Burke lineage somewhere in his pedigree. I really enjoy this site very much and appreciate Mike Ruddy keeping it going for all of us researchers!
