Hi Edward & Kevin: I'm thinking there may be a Edward Clark in that regiment. Let me explain. I saw on Google books just an excerpt from a book that say Edwin Reuben Clark service as an ordnance man in the Confederate Army for four years. I have never seen anything about him serving...so I did a search and saw a Clark with a reference to this regiment. Grasping at straws....he is my gggrandfather. He was born in VA then lived in TN. Thanks for all your help (again! ) Debi -----Original Message----- From: civil-war-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:civil-war-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Edward Harding Sent: Thursday, December 20, 2007 5:15 PM To: civil-war@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [CIVIL-WAR] Wade's Regiment Virginia Local Defense Debi, Is there anything in particular you are looking for on this regiment or a particular soldier? If so, let me know and I'll try to help you. civilwardata.com does not show him listed as being in that regiment. I show a J. Clark and a John Clarke but nothing more. I looked up Edward Clark in that database and show 33 from an assortment of states but nothing that matches. Edward has much more resources than I so he might have more. Edward? Debi, I have checked through the original service records of soldiers in Wade's Regiment and found only one soldier who could possibly be Edward Clark. In the service record, this soldier is listed as E.R. Clark. Below is what I found in his original service record: Page 1 - Cover Page Clark, E.R. Co. A, Wade's Regiment Virginia Local Defense Rank: Private Page 2 - Company Muster Roll for "not dated" Joined for duty and enrolled: When: 15, July, 1863 Where: Christiansburg By Whom: J.T. Miller Remarks: All between the ages of 18 & 45 have been exempted from mil. duty on account of disability or otherwise. Page 3 - Typed Payroll Information E.R. Clark May 1862 - in charge of Salt Peter works, New River, Roanoke or Montgomery County July & Aug 1862 - Manager at Central Depot, C.S. Government Nitro Works September 1862 - Manager, same. Pay at $2. a day Oct & Nov 1862 - same. December 1862 - same. Jan & Feb 1863 - Manager of Nitro Works at "Barnetts". March 1863 - Manager of Government Nitro Works at "Barnetts". Pay rolls of Lieut. R.C. Morton, C.S. Nitro Service. This is the only information I was able to come up with. I hope it might be of some help to you. Edward
