I assume that when you say "There are only 2 David Smouse listed..." that you are referring the Ancestry.com version of the Civil War pension index. The PA ARIAS Card Index lists the following David Smouse: David Smouse Private Company L 22d Cavalry (the 3-year unit) Mustered in Feb 22, 1864 Mustered out to 3d Regiment Provisional Cavalry, October 31, 1865 (The 3rd Provisional Cavalry was organized at Cumberland, Md., June 24, 1865, by consolidation of the 18th and 22nd Pennsylvania Cavalry. Duty at Clarksburg, W. Va., till October, 1865. Mustered out October 31, 1865). His mother applied for a pension April 1, 1890, Application No. 418,741. Footnote lists a David F. Smouse (listed elsewhere as David S. Smouse Private Company E (Company E was recruited in Blair County) 84th Pa. Vol. Infantry applied for a pension on July 25, 1889; Invalid Application No. 840,067 Hope this helps, Alice Gayley ----- Original Message ----- From: "Kathryn Gordon Hamby" <genseeker2@msn.com> To: <civil-war@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 23, 2008 2:52 PM Subject: [CIVIL-WAR] 84 Pennsylvania Infantry Co E > > Hello I am researching a David SMOUSE he lived in Blair co, PA. > There are only 2 David SMOUSE listed the one that got the pension was not > mine (on his paper it says mother was Lydia my David's mother was Dorothy > (Dolly)) and the other one was listed in 3rd Regiment co L, Pennsylvania > then went to 22nd Regiment. > All I can find for mine (?) on ancestry is on the American Civil War, it > doesn't list dates enlisted or mustered out.
