    3. NARA documents say my ggfather, DANIEL FERER, was given a surgeon's discharhe in Kittaning Armstong Co PA about 1862. A horse fell on him at Camp Piepont and hurt his back. He was a blacksmith and a ferrier (shoes horses). In the 1860 census Clarion Co PA, they were living in Red Bank Twp Mayport PA. Kittanning is about 25 miles from Mayport and he may have returned home? His wife, Mary Niehart Ferer and her four children (Joseph, William, Louisa, Carrie) are In the 1870 census Lock Haven Clinton Co PA, but Daniel is not listed. Mary applied for his pension in 1872, so we know he had died by that time. We think that Daniel was crippled and remained in Kittanning to take advange of a government provided disabled home for veterans? Does anyone know of such a home in Clarion or Armstrong PA counties about 1862? Better yet, does anyone know anything about Daniel Ferer? I welcome any help, Roy
