Where do you get that the Plaque is a grave marker? The e-bay page does not state that this is a grave marker, but instead a commemorative plaque. Besides it sounds like the "concerned relative" is not so concerned after all. This doesn't sound like a grave marker at all, it seems to be exactly what it is stated to be, a commemorative plaque. We sell and buy commemorative coins, and other commemorative items...so maybe you all should go help save the whales or something...and mind your own business....ever thought of that?? hummmmm? ==== CIVIL-WAR Mailing List ==== To unsubscribe from list mode, email CIVIL-WAR-L-REQUEST@rootsweb.com and in the text area of the message, type only the word unsubscribe --- [This E-mail scanned for viruses by Surfside Internet]

It's possible they are waiting to see who would by such an item and then check into them and see if they had any others as well. Just as in the Ivory trade/blackmarket, not only stop the supply but the demand.

You would think with so many people working on it, it would be gone by now. I have had this result before with the DAR markers, but that was long ago when Ebay didn't have the rules that they have now. They usually did remove the item right before the deadline. Perhaps, we should contact them again? It is intersting that nobody has bid on it, though. Julia

Several years ago, Homer Jones and I were discussing Civil War vets in the Macon, Bullock, Lee County areas of Alabama. I was making notes and wrote down St. Mary's Hospital, Union Springs, burials in Old City Cemetery. I think what he had said was that many of the wounded soldiers were in St. Mary's Hospital and those who died there were buried at Old City Cemetery, both Union and Confederates. Is anyone familiar with St. Mary's Hospital or have any ideas where we might locate any information about it? Thanks! Evelyn Leslie Remlap, AL

To BOB & Craig MARKERS such as these are for the Grave site and if you go to cemeteries where there are Civil War Dead you will see other Memorials like this from the GAR and also the Confederate organization. The SELLING of such a MARKER is like stealing from a grave. That is why there are Laws against removing it from a Grave site and selling it. There is a location of the grave and The MARKER is to be returned where it Belongs. Is would be to your benefit to see that it is returned to the Relative who is concerned and placed on the original grave site where it belongs. Version 7.5 of the U.S. Civil War Units File (Sept. 29, 2003) is available on the web, and we hope that it will soon be available from the Rootsweb server. (See below for addresses.) The Civil War Units File (CWUNITS) lists people who have information on a unit or ship (often rosters, battles, etc.) and are willing to help others research it. Some are experts; most are "just" helpful fellow researchers. If you see a listing for a unit you are interested in, you can send the contact person email and share information. There are also listings for battles, organizations, counties, ethnic groups, etc. The following addresses no longer work and we were unable to find the people, so their listings have been deleted.
