i'll agree, edward.. trying to do more on my ancestore in the wbts... good luck.......ed
Hi Ann, I've always kept the link for the website Rootsweb Military Lists in my Favorites in case there were other lists I wanted to subscribe to other than this one, but that page seems to no longer exist. I've gone through all of the Rootsweb pages and either I'm blind or didn't find what I was looking for as I found no lists under the Civil War to subscribe too. I hate to say it, but once again, it looks like someone has taken something that seemed to work well for the subscribers and tried to fix something that wasn't broken. Like usual, we're the ones who lose out. I wish I could help you regarding the lists you're inquiring about, but I just can't find anything on them. Good luck with what you're trying to accomplish. Best regards, Edward Are The following active? Have a query about the existence of coin commemorating "The First Defenders". The First Defenders were the five companies from Pennsylvania that were the first regiments to reach Washington, DC. Namely: the Ringgold Light Artillery, led by Captain M'Knight, of Reading; the Logan Guards, Captain Selheimer, of Lewistown; the Washington Artillery, Captain Wren, of Pottsville; the National Light Infantry, Captain M'Donald, of Pottsville; and the Allen Rifles, CaptainYeager, of Allentown. Does anyone know anything about this coin? I can't seem to find a reference. Thanks, -- Alice J. Gayley Pennsylvania in the Civil War http://www.pa-roots.com/~pacw/

According to the info, she died 1705, most likely in Perquimans County, NC. Apparently your Oates family came from England by way of Barbados. Hope this is helpful.
