My great aunt Nellie May CLUTTER would often tell stories about when she ran away from home and joined the circus and got a tattoo. Since I started researching my family, I'm looking for evidence of that. She was born 25 October 1921 in Parkersburg, Wood County, West Virginia. Does anyone know of any circuses in West Virginia in the late 1930's, early 1940's that she may have joined up with? I don't know how old she was when she joined up, but I'm guessing that was probably the right time frame. She never gave specific names or dates in her stories that I recall. I know that she was married twice, most likely after she left the circus. Her second husband, Frank Haddad, died in the late 1950's, and she was living in Ohio alone when my grandfather went to get her and brought her to Alaska to live near them. Cynthia Cocker
