The Circus-Folk web page at http://circusfolk.freeservers.com has been updated slightly today with a few minor additions. A YahooGroups list has been created at Circus-Folk@yahoogroups.com for the main purpose of useing the YahooGroups file storage utilities (you can upload pictures and stories there). I have contacted the board administrator of GenConnect Special "Circus" and asked to have that board linked to this mail list so that all post to the GenConnect Board comes to this list also. I'm still looking for more lists, pages, and other resources so we can try to connect our family history. Write to me or to the list if you have any ideas or would like to help with this project... I've created a web page listing some resources for circus folk researchers and submitted it to the major search engines. http://circusfolk.freeservers.com links and comments are welcome and appreciated. CoachTurner Circus-Folk-L list admin
Rootsweb mailing lists are volunteer led forums were people of like interest can communicate. This particular list is less than one week old and therefor has very few subscribers. Hi! I'm Carson Turner and I'm the list administrator for this and several other lists. Some lists are very active (Holt-L@rootsweb.com) while others are infrequent (SCCherok@rootsweb.com) -- the idea is that once many of us with a like interest are reading the messages, someone on the list is bound to have information that someone else needs. As yet, there are very few references for those of us looking for information about our ancestors who were Circus-Folk. My great-grandparents (Roby Bentley and wife Ella Campbell) travelled with a circus as an aerial act at the turn of the century. If the information you are looking for isn't forthcoming please stay on the list - I'm working on getting more resources available to us all - including message boards and web links... ;-) Carson Turner aka "BEEP! the Clown" Circus-Folk-L list admin -----Original Message----- From: Charles R Curtis [mailto:curtis-c@mediaone.net] Sent: Friday, March 09, 2001 8:02 PM To: CIRCUS-FOLK-admin@rootsweb.com Subject: Edward Wrobel Perhaps I do not completely understand the workings of your mailing lists, but I thought it might be like a message board, where a name could be listed that you wanted information about . My uncle, Edward Wrobel left home many, many years ago and "joined the Circus". I don't know if he worked for just one or if he changed employers. I saw him several times when the Circus came to Lawrence, MA. However, now that I am interested in genealogy, I am trying to find someone who knew him, or knew something about him and who he worked for, etc. etc. etc. All his brothers and sisters have now passed away (My mother was his sister). We have recently found information that he died in Cleveland, OH about May 29, 1944. Cleveland is in Cuyahoga County. How does your mailing list work? He was born Nov.22,l898. Please advise. Thank you. Charles R. Curtis, Jr.
Need information on O C Earley who married Emma ??? Posssibly had a dau Pearlie. Had a son Willie b ca 1906 and adopted by W.P. and Myrtal Coleman March 1908. Supposed to have been involved with a circus. I understand "The W. D. Swain Road Show" was held yearly under a big tent in early 1900's in Neshoba Co MS, where the adoption took place. O.C. was back in Webster Co MS in 1910 (22 yrs. old) with parents and Pearlie (4 yrs old). He is supposed to have married again. Need help on O.C. Thanks in advance. pwpenney@fastdata.net
This is a mail test for the new Circus Folk mailing list. This is only a test!
Thanks much for the 1930 list of RBBB clowns. Do you, by any chance have a list of the clowns on the 1946 RBBB? Thank you for any information you may provide. Jack R.
