Co., Tn. cns. lists ROBERT CHUMLEY & wife, both 40-50 (bn. 1781-1790), boy 20-30 (bn. 1801- 1810 -(COULD BE OUR WILLIAM CHUMLEY, born about 1807 in Tennessee, WHO MARRIED Jane Matilda Burnett whose mother was a Blackburn whose family owned land and home in GAP CREEK, Knox County, Tennessee.) This wld. be JOHN HENRY (THOMAS?) bn. 1809, mrd. 1831), boy 15-20 (bn. 1811-1815. This wld. be. CHARLES BALLARD, bn. 1814, mrd. 6 Feb. 1836), boy 10-15 (bn. 1816-1820. This wld. be BRITTAIN, bn. abt. 1815, mrd. 1833), 3 girls 5-10 (bn. 1821-1825. They wld. be. THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION MAY HELP YOU ANSWER MY QUESTIONS: In the 1850 Knox County, Tennessee, Census Household 620/family 628 (K-625-180), the family name misspelled (Chumney). The family name is Chumley. William C. Chumley, b. 1807 in Tennessee, and Jane Matilda (Burnett) Chumley, b. 1813 in Tennessee, married December 19, 1831. Children are Samira “Mira” Jane, b. 1833; Jackson, b. 1838, married Ann E. Wilson November 22, 1873, in Rhea County; William H. Chumley, b. 1841, married Mariah Byerley December 19, 1831. (Sister of William D. Byerley); Hester Ann, b. 1843, married William D. Byerley (son of Jacob Byerley and Sarah Brown Byerley); Hugh L., b. 1845; and Sara E. b. 1847. Tennessee born.
