Larry, HI! I have heard that our Chumleys come from England and were probably from the Chomondeley family, but I have not gotten my line back past the 1800s so can't say for sure. You might want to also join the Chumbley-L list. It was the first one I started and has more members. There were a couple of people that were on that list who were working on some of the older lines. One was Grace Becker. You might try sending the message to that list.
